The House of Representatives Commitee on Science and Technology, on Wednesday directed the Director General National Centre for Tchnology Management, OAU, to present before it nominal role containing staff list and their state of origin as well as documents that are eligible and readable.

This was because of the Committee’s inability to read vital pages of documents presented before it when the agency appeared before lawmakers to defend its 2023 Budget estimates in the National Assembly complex, Abuja.

The Chairman of the Committee Hon. Beni Lar had expressed displeasure over the agency’s inability to present convincing documents that will make lawmakers to approve their 2023 Budget.

Hon Stanley Jide, a member of the committee, while reacting to the development advised the agency to sit up and provide the required documents as such will help the committee to know exactly how they utilized their last year’s budget before granting approval for another year.

He observed that Nigerians might soon be eating from gutters unless something drastic is done to improve the country’s financial situation.

While reacting to a question raised by some members of the committee on how they spend their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the Director General of the agency, Dr.John Akintayo Omomakend explained that his agency have spent over 75 percent of their IGR.

Reacting to his explanation, the Committee therefore mandates the agency to produce the circular which they claimed authorized them to spend 75 percent of their IGR.

Earlier in her reactions, the Chairman of the Committee informed the agency that her committee is not out to witch-hunt anybody or organization but to ensure that budgeting is done based on need and common interest of Nigeria and Nigerians.
