Zenith Bank has been facing significant digital service disruptions recently, which have caused frustration among its customers. Although the bank issued a statement on October 3, 2024, claiming that its services had been restored after an IT infrastructure upgrade, many customers are still experiencing difficulties as of today.

This disruption has raised concerns about the bank’s digital stability and the broader implications for its operations.

The disruptions began after Zenith Bank announced a planned maintenance from September 29 to October 1. While they initially assured customers that full functionality would resume across all digital platforms, complaints persisted regarding online banking, mobile app access, and other services.

Customers both locally and abroad are increasingly worried about the security of their deposits and the integrity of the bank’s IT infrastructure, with some fearing this could lead to wider banking issues if unresolved.

While the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has yet to make any public interventions, economic analysts warn that prolonged service interruptions could impact customer confidence and possibly the bank’s profitability.

However, at this stage, the situation does not appear to indicate an imminent banking crisis, though prompt resolution is essential to avoid reputational damage and financial instability
