The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Tuesday onboarded Premium Trust Bank as its Official Bank and the official bank for the National Teams in a partnership agreement unveiled during a signing ceremony in Abuja. The deal, spanning four years, will see Premium Trust Bank provide the NFF with N300 million annually, with a provision for a 10% yearly increment.

NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the bank’s dedication to supporting Nigerian sports, especially youth development from grassroots to stardom.
“We are excited to be associated with Premium Trust Bank because of its credible, close relationship with sports over its less-than-three-years life in the financial sector. During our interactions leading to the signing of this agreement, I was moved by the palpable enthusiasm and commitment of the organization to supporting and encouraging Nigerian youth all the way from the grassroots to stardom.”

Premium Trust Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Emmanuel Emefienim, detailed the bank’s various contributions to sports in Nigeria, including partnerships with the Athletic Federation of Nigeria, sponsorship of the 2022 National Sports Festival in Delta State, and support for prominent athletes like Tobi Amusan. The bank will also sponsor the 2024 National Sports Festival in Ogun State.

This partnership underscores Premium Trust Bank’s commitment to sports development in Nigeria and its role in fostering talent and supporting national sports initiatives.

“We have been very deliberate in our support for sports, because we are deliberate when it comes to impacting lives. Our belief is that the private sector has a role to play in providing the platform for the youth to showcase their positive talents and be useful to themselves and the nation, thereby supporting the efforts of the government.

During the ceremony, NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing Nigerian football in all aspects. He highlighted the significance of the partnership with Premium Trust Bank, the first major collaboration under his leadership, and urged other credible corporate entities to support the development of football in Nigeria.

The event was attended by key figures from both the NFF and Premium Trust Bank. Representing the NFF were Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, Chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Sub-Committee; Alhaji Babagana Kalli, Chairman of the NFF Security Sub-Committee; Dr. Mohammed Sanusi MON, NFF General Secretary; Paulinus Anameje, NFF Director of Finance & Admin; Mathew Iyere, NFF Head of Audit; Alizor Chuks, NFF Head of Marketing and Sponsorship; Barnabas Joro, NFF Head of Protocol; Barr. Queen Otarakpo, NFF Chief Legal Officer; and Danladi Umar, SA to the NFF President, along with Peter Tade Adekunle and Dennis Olorungbemi.

From Premium Trust Bank, the Executive Director, Mr. Shina Atilola; Chief Business Officer, Uloma Chukwueke; and Chief Legal Officer, Chukwuemeka Nwaogu were present, demonstrating the bank’s commitment to this significant partnership.
