The Federal Government has inaugurated a National Malaria Council, aimed at eradicating the disease in the country. The council is chaired by Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, and co-chaired by prominent business moguls Tony Elumelu and Femi Otedola.
This initiative to bring the businessmen together underscores the federal government’s strategy to leverage the expertise and resources of the private sector in tackling public health challenges.
During the inauguration ceremony in Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu highlighted the importance of the council in Nigeria’s national health strategy. He emphasized the urgency of addressing malaria, a critical issue not only for Nigeria but also for global health as recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international health agencies.
