Policemen in Ibom State High Court, Thursday, amidst confusion, stopped a death sentence convict, Uduak Akpan, who spontaneously scrambled to escape immediately judgment was passed by the trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang.

Akpan, as the first accused in the murder of Akwa Ibom job seeker, Iniobong Umoren, was docked along with Frank Akpan and sister, Anwan Bassey (2nd and 3rd accused) for accessory to the murder.

The convict was sentenced to death by hanging and life imprisonment in the two-count charge of murder and rape preferred against him.

However, the court discharged and acquitted his father and others.
