Some communities along Airport Road, Abuja, have come under series of attack by armed robbers as residents were left lamenting the loss of their properties, money and in some cases, vehicles to the men of the underworld.
Fear stricken residents, who recounted their ordeals on the hands of the robbers to our Correspondent in Abuja, disclosed how the armed robbers attacked a popular eatery/drinks garden besides NUT hotel/guest house in ACO Estate, at about 7.40 p.m., last Monday, shooting sporadically robbing customers, patrons of roasted fish, and other fun seekers of their valuables, cash, phones and other belongings.
An eye witness told our Correspondent that the robbers started their operation from the eatery inside the hotel and collected all the cash sales of the woman operating the eatery before moving out to the sit out area. Several of the customers who were able to scamper for safety sustained various degrees of injuries.
Another resident revealed that the robbers later attacked a female POS operator, who was shot as she struggled not to let go of her money, with her condition said to be critical.
Before the attack, it was gathered that armed robbers had a few days earlier, also attacked another popular relaxation spot said to be called “Tobel Resort” along the same road with NUT in ACO Estate at about 7.30 p.m., robbed customers of cash, phones and personal effects at gunpoint
It was further gathered that about four days ago, armed robbers at about 7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. attacked a Shopping Mall/Supermarket at ACO Junction, robbed customers as well as the owners of the shopping mall of large amounts of cash and other valuables.
On the effort made to reach the Police, a resident said distress calls made to Police were not followed with prompt response, adding that the Police would always reply that they have no means of coming to their rescue.
However, about one hour or more after the robbers have concluded their operations; the police would come around and ask what happened.
Officials of the FCT Police Command, when contacted, pleaded for time to get details of the robbery incidents and revert later.
NMA Reacts to kidnap of Medical Doctor in Kogi

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has reacted to the kidnap of one of its members, Dr. Rukayat Musa, in Kogi State.
A statement jointly signed by the State Chairman, Dr. Abubakar Alhassan and Secretary, Dr. Udebuani Chimezie, said Dr. Musa was forcefully taken away by the kidnappers on June 21, 2022, on Geregu-Ajaokuta stretch of Geregu Ajaokuta- Lokoja road while returning from an official assignment at Anyigba in Kogi State.
According to the statement, Dr. Rukayat Musa works with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) office in Lokoja.
The association, however, calls on the Government and all security agencies to work very hard towards her early and safe return.
There were reports that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Tuesday abducted seven people, including a doctor and a lawyer.
