To further exacerbate the oddities of the times that we are living in, politically speaking in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress Vice-Presidential running mate, Mr. Ibrahim Kabiru Masari had announced that he lost all his school certificates, albeit, in circumstances that he said are mysterious.

In an affidavit which he deposed and submitted to the electoral commission (INEC), Masari was the Welfare Secretary of the ruling party during the tenure of Adams Oshiomhole as Party Chairman reported that he lost his Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and certificates which includes:

(1) Grade II Certificate from Katsina Teachers’ College (KTC) from 1978 – 1983.

(2) First Leaving School Certificate issued by Masari Primary, Katsina State, from 1972 – 1978.

For now, as the haze is yet to clear, what is clear is that, there seem to be a convergence of shared camaraderie between Masari and his Principal, the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who some reports say he, too, is having challenge presenting some of his certificates.

One of the articles of the electoral law requires that candidates must submit their personal credentials to the INEC, which thereafter, publishes such, for public scrutiny as permitted by the enabling act.

It is in this regard that the opinion of the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on these allegations of filing the relevant election forms without supportive credentials, in the context of the Electoral Act and constitutional requirements, would help to clarify the matter.
