The activities to celebrate the 35 years of reign of His Royal Highness Oba Okhishimede Eshimokhai Idogu III, JP, OON, as the Olokpe of Okpe Kingdom, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Edo State, South-South Nigeria, has entered a countdown precursor to the D-day of November 26, 2022.
The revered monarch took a deep into royal history and aligned with a quote from a late British monarch, Queen Elizabeth I; where she said:
“To be a king and wear a crown is a thing more glorious to them that see it than it is pleasant to them that bear it” – Elizabeth I.
According to the timeline of the event released by the Council of Chiefs, the activities will kick off on Wednesday, 23rd November, 2022 with a Chieftaincy title conferment ceremony, followed by the Evaremi festival on Thursday, November 24.
On Saturday November 26, there will be a Coronation anniversary thanksgiving service at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, Okpe at 10.00 AM, which will pan out a royal reception party at the palace premises.
Among the eminent personalities to be conferred chieftaincy titles are Engineer Saliu O. Ahmed, the Managing Director, Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA); Engr. S. S. Akhigbe, a retired staff of Chevron Plc; and Alhaji Aliyu Umaru, a Lagos-based business guru.
Other dignitaries to be honoured and those who have been invited, expressed that it is an honour to identify with His Royal Highness Oba Okhishimede Eshimokhai Idogu III, JP, OON, on the milestone event of his 35th coronation anniversary.
