Students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, and some town youth are currently staging a public protest in Ogbomoso.

It was gathered that the protest was a result of spontaneous response to the news of the alleged killing of the LAUTECH Final year student, Rachael Opadele, and the hotelier, Olugbenga Owolabi.

Police have not yet confirmed the killing, sources close to the student’s family said the two abductees were shot dead after the kidnappers had collected a N5m ransom.

The Okada rider, who took the ransom to the kidnapper’s den, was reportedly shot, but the sources said he was still alive.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached.

Even the Student Union President of LAUTECH, Anuoluwa Adeboye, said he had not confirmed the news from the police.

Sources have confirmed the Ogbomoso – Ilorin road has been taken over by the protesters irked by the alleged killing of the victims.

The two victims were abducted on Thursday night at the hotel located in the Abaa community in Surulere Local Government Area.
