In the ongoing third edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) in 2023, two teams, Bayelsa Queens and FC Robo of Lagos, secured wins in their opening matches.

Bayelsa Queens vs. Nasarawa Amazons:
This Group B match took place at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Sports Complex and ended with a score of 2-0 in favor of Bayelsa Queens.

Blessing Abiola scored the first goal in the 12th minute of the match. The second goal was secured through a penalty in the 24th minute, and it was converted by Abiola Blessing, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the match.

FC Robo International Players dominated their opening Group C match against Fortress Ladies, at the 3rd edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament, at the UNIBEN Sports Complex on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

FC Robo International vs. Fortress Ladies:
In the Group C opening match, FC Robo International faced off against Fortress Ladies at the UNIBEN Sports Complex. FC Robo emerged victorious with a final score of 3-1.

Deborah Peters of FC Robo opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Fortress Ladies managed to equalize in the 28th minute during the first half with a goal by Marvelous Akpoboro. The second goal for FC Robo was scored in the 59th minute of the second half. The team sealed their victory with a final goal in the 87th minute.

Folashade Ijamulisi of FC Robo was recognized as the Most Valuable Player in a post-match interview.

Folashade Ijamulisi, an under-17 national team player, attributed FC Robo’s success to their fighting spirit and expressed their aim to qualify for the group stage of the 3rd edition of the BOWFT competition as defending champions.
