Terrorists Threaten to Blow up Shiroro Dam

This security situation in Niger State is becoming dire, as terrorists operating in the North Central State of has threatened to blow up Shiroro Dam and plunge the country in darkness.

They also threatened to bring destruction to the environs.

The Regional Manager of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engineer Maiwada Sarki Bello, raised the alarm while addressing the press in the TCN Shiroro region of Niger State.

Bello highlighted instances where TCN staff were ambushed by these terrorists while heading to repair the Shiroro Kaduna transmission line, resulting in the tragic loss of three policemen.

Another TCN staff member was abducted and held captive for three months before being freed, he added.

Despite these challenges, Engineer Maiwada Sarki Bello commended the Federal Government for deploying security personnel and local vigilantes to support TCN’s efforts.

He explained that there were ongoing rehabilitation and expansion initiatives aimed at replacing obsolete equipment at Shiroro, Kianji, and other stations.

The Regional Manager also discussed plans for constructing a new 30KV line from Shiroro to Kaduna.

He appealed to the Federal Government to give the security more support in other for them to be more efficient and effective in their onslaught against these bandits.
