President Bola Tinubu has approved a new national minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers, with a commitment to review the national minimum wage law every three years.

This decision was announced during a meeting with leaders of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday in Abuja. This meeting marked the second time the parties have convened within a week.

In addition to the wage increase, President Tinubu promised to explore measures to assist the private sector and sub-national governments in meeting the new minimum wage requirements.

As of now, the NLC and TUC have not released an official response statement regarding these developments.
