A Former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Bayelsa State Governor on Tourism and Chairman, Board of Trustees, BRACED Tourism Promotion & Development Initiative (BTPDI), Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and the people of Cross River State, particularly the bereaved family over the sudden passing of the state’s Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Abubakar Robert Ewa.

In a condolence statement issued on behalf of BRACED Tourism Promotion & Development Initiative (BTPDI) on Thursday in Yenagoa, endorsed by the Board Chairman, Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo described the late Cross River Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture as a “rare gem” whose untimely death is a significant loss to the entire BRACED region.
Dr. Kiyaramo fondly remembered his encounter with the late Ewa at the inaugural summit of Commissioners of Tourism, Arts, and Culture from across the BRACED region, which took place at Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, saying the late Ewa as a remarkable individual, praising him as a great intellectual and a jolly good fellow who effortlessly charmed everyone he met throughout his life.

According to Dr. Kiyaramo, the late Ewa’s thought-provoking contributions at the maiden regional tourism and culture Commissioners’ summit with the theme: “Developing Strategies of Tourism, Arts and Culture in the BRACED States” had a profound impact on the attendees.
He reiterated that under the guidance of Ambassador Joe Keshi, Director-General of the BRACED Commission, Ewa’s insightful remarks at the event left a lasting impression on the participants, showcasing his exceptional intellectual prowess and ability to inspire meaningful discussions.

Gov. Diri’s former aide on Tourism Development and National Publicity Secretary of the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN), paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Cross River State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Abubakar Ewa. He described Ewa as a “rare gem” whose exceptional creativity and innovative thinking left a lasting impact on the tourism industry.
“Late Ewa was a passionate advocate for community tourism, emphasizing the importance of peaceful coexistence in promoting tourism. He believed that tourism could thrive only in an environment of peace and harmony.
“During his tenure, Ewa worked tirelessly to develop the tourism sector in Cross River State, showcasing its natural beauty and cultural heritage. His efforts helped position the state as a leading tourism destination in Nigeria. Ewa’s sudden demise has left a void in the tourism industry, but his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of tourism practitioners,” Dr. Kiyaramo maintained.
According to Dr. Kiyaramo the late commissioner’s unmatchable prowess will be deeply missed, highlighting the significant impact he had on the tourism industry, adding that his untimely death was a great loss to the entire BRACED region, comprising Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta States.

It will be recalled that late Ewa who was present at the state’s executive council meeting earlier on Wednesday, presided by the state governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, reportedly passed on Wednesday evening at the Arubah Specialist Hospital in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
