Huge news. Effective January 22, 2025, under the new administration of President Donald Trump, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has waived the COVID-19 vaccination requirement for individuals applying for adjustment of status to lawful permanent resident (green card applicants).

This development is part of a series of executive actions taken by President Trump since his return to office, aiming to reshape U.S. immigration policies.

USCIS announced that applicants are no longer required to provide documentation of COVID-19 vaccination on Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record.

The agency will not issue Requests for Evidence or Notices of Intent to Deny based on the absence of such documentation, nor will it deny applications due to a lack of COVID-19 vaccination proof.

This policy change aligns with the administration’s broader approach to immigration and public health measures. Previously, during the Biden administration, certain COVID-19 vaccination mandates were in place for federal employees, contractors, and international travelers.

However, in May 2023, the Biden administration announced the end of these vaccination requirements, reflecting a shift in the federal government’s stance on COVID-19 vaccination policies.

It’s important to note that while the COVID-19 vaccination requirement has been removed for green card applicants, other vaccination requirements remain in effect.

USCIS continues to mandate that applicants receive vaccinations recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for the general U.S. population, which include vaccines for diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, and others.
