On Tuesday, EFCC agents, armed with a valid warrant, raided NAHCON’s headquarters in Abuja at approximately 11 a.m. During the operation, they arrested the commission’s spokesperson, Fatimah Usara, along with three other staff members whose identities have not been disclosed. These actions are part of an ongoing probe into the alleged mismanagement of funds allocated for the 2024 Hajj operations.

This development follows an earlier raid by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in August 2024. The ICPC had searched NAHCON’s headquarters over allegations of mismanagement of a ₦90 billion intervention fund allocated for the 2024 Hajj. During that operation, the ICPC detained the commission’s director of procurement for further questioning.

It will be recalled that in July 2024, the EFCC also interrogated NAHCON’s Chairman, Malam Jalal Arabi, regarding the alleged mismanagement of the 2024 Hajj funds. Arabi was questioned on how the commission utilized the ₦90 billion subsidy provided for that year’s Hajj exercise.

These consecutive investigations have heightened scrutiny on NAHCON’s financial activities, with stakeholders calling for increased transparency and accountability within the commission
