US president Donald Trump has never hidden his desire to end the war in Ukraine. But being a businessman, deal making underpins his approach to everything. So, he wants something in return, sort of quid pro quo.

He declared on Monday, February 3, that;
“We’re looking to find an agreement with Ukraine whereby they would provide their rare earths and other things as collateral in exchange for what we give them.”
The statement comes shortly after that of Russian President Vladimir Putin concerning potential peace negotiations with Trump, and without Zelensky, whom he considers “illegitimate”. Almost a week ago, the Kremlin leader had indicated that he was “ready” to address the Ukrainian issue.
Since this MAGA (Make America Great Again) driven President never loses his deal making art, he announced that he wanted to negotiate some compensation with Ukraine in exchange for its help in a peace process.

What he wants? The country’s rare earths, i.e. materials widely used in electronics and electro-magnetic innovations.
