‎Bamidele Akingboye, who once contested as the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in the Ondo State governorship election of November 2024, has died after a freak accident at his home in Lagos. He was 60 years old at his demise.

‎Preliminary investigations suggest that he fell from the balcony of his house in Victoria Garden City (VGC)’ Lekki Lagos last Wednesday 3rd September, 2025, and sustained multiple injuries leading to his demise. Yet, unconfirmed reports alleged that one of his wives may have pushed him during a family fight.

‎His death shocked many people, leaving the community mourning the loss of an important political figure. Akingboye left behind his wives, children, grandchildren, and siblings.

The Lagos Police Command say they will continue to investigate the matter to unravel the exact circumstances of his death.
