A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulsammad Rabiu Dasuki (PDP-Sokoto), has raised serious concerns over alleged discrepancies between the tax laws passed by the National Assembly and the versions currently made available to the public.
Speaking during plenary on Wednesday, December 18, 2025, Dasuki claimed that the tax bills as enacted by the legislature differ from those published and disseminated to Nigerians, potentially undermining transparency and public trust in the legislative process.
According to the lawmaker, who represents Sokoto South Federal Constituency, the versions of the tax laws accessible through official channels and government portals do not reflect the final amendments and passages made by the National Assembly.
“This is a matter of grave concern,” Dasuki said. “The tax laws passed by this hallowed chamber after rigorous debates and public hearings are not the same as what is being circulated and enforced on the people. How can we expect citizens to comply with laws they do not have accurate access to?”

He urged the House leadership to investigate the matter urgently, calling for a forensic comparison of the passed bills with the published versions and for corrective measures to ensure alignment.
Dasuki further demanded that the Clerk of the National Assembly and relevant committees provide clarification on the process of gazetting and publication of the tax laws.
The tax reform bills, which include the Nigeria Tax Bill, Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, and Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill, were recently passed by both chambers of the National Assembly and transmitted to President Bola Tinubu for assent.
The lawmaker’s allegation comes amid ongoing debates on the tax reforms, which aim to streamline Nigeria’s tax system, reduce multiple taxation, and boost revenue for national development.
