Billionaire businessman and President of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has fulfilled his pre-tournament promise by rewarding the Super Eagles of Nigeria with ₦700 million for their impressive run at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, even after the team’s heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat to Morocco in the final on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Rabiu had publicly pledged the sum before the tournament began, promising to reward the team handsomely if they brought the trophy home or delivered a strong performance that made Nigerians proud.
In a statement released through the BUA Foundation on Monday, January 19, 2026, Rabiu said: “The Super Eagles fought with heart, pride, and determination throughout the competition. They represented Nigeria with honour and brought joy to millions. A promise is a promise regardless of the final result.
