Afrobeats superstar Davido has reacted angrily after losing a massive ₦71 million bet on Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the AFCON 2025 semi-final against Morocco, openly blaming Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea for the defeat.

Nigeria lost 2-4 to the hosts in Rabat on Wednesday night, January 14, 2026, in a highly controversial match that saw two Nigerian goals disallowed and several penalty claims waved away.

Davido, a vocal Super Eagles supporter, took to his Instagram Stories shortly after the final whistle to vent his frustration:
“71 million gone Just like that! This Ghana ref no try at all. Two clear goals disallowed, penalty ignored. Na wa o! CAF wetin dey happen? We go still support our boys but this one pain me die.”

He later posted a follow-up clip showing the disallowed goals with the caption: “This is robbery! How referee go see this and no blow whistle? Ghana ref again? No be today e start. Make una see o!”

The post quickly went viral, amassing millions of views and thousands of comments from fans who echoed his sentiments, with many accusing CAF of bias toward the host nation.
