Renowned American gospel singer, worship leader, and pastor Ron Kenoly has passed away at the age of 81.
The news of his death was confirmed on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, sending shockwaves through the global Christian music community and prompting an immediate outpouring of tributes from worship leaders, artists, pastors, and fans across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Ron Kenoly, who rose to prominence in the 1990s with his powerful, Spirit-filled live worship recordings, played a pivotal role in shaping contemporary praise and worship music. His energetic style, rich baritone voice, and heartfelt delivery made songs like “Ancient of Days,” “Jesus Is Alive,” “Sing Out,” “We’re Going Up,” “I See the Lord,” and “Lift Him Up” enduring classics sung in churches worldwide.
Born in 1944 in Coffeyville, Kansas, Ron Kenoly served in the U.S. Air Force before entering full-time ministry. He pastored churches, led worship at major conferences, and released numerous live albums through Integrity Music that became staples in charismatic and Pentecostal congregations globally.
His music was especially loved in Nigeria and other parts of Africa, where his songs were frequently sung during revivals, crusades, and Sunday services. Many Nigerian gospel artists and worship leaders have cited him as a major influence.
