Abdulrasheed Maina, the former chairman of the now-defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, after collapsing outside his office in Abuja, his media assistant Emmanuel Nweke has confirmed.

According to Nweke, Maina slumped suddenly around midday and was immediately attended to by aides before being taken to a private hospital in the city. He is currently receiving treatment, though the exact nature of his condition has not been disclosed.

“Chief Abdulrasheed Maina slumped this afternoon outside his office. He has been taken to the hospital and is receiving medical attention. We ask for prayers for his quick recovery,” Nweke said in a brief statement.

Maina, a controversial figure who led the pension reform efforts under former President Goodluck Jonathan, has faced multiple corruption allegations, trials, and convictions related to pension fraud. He was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2021 by the Federal High Court in Abuja but has been appealing various judgements.

The incident comes amid ongoing legal battles and public scrutiny over his role in the management of pension funds.
