Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has extended warm felicitations to former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, on the occasion of his 75th birthday anniversary, describing him as a “patriotic democrat” and a lasting symbol of good governance.

In a statement issued on Saturday, February 8, 2026, Governor Adeleke praised Oyinlola’s contributions to democracy, peace-building, and infrastructural development during his tenure as governor (2003–2010), noting that his leadership style continues to inspire younger politicians.

“Today, I join family, friends, associates and the good people of Osun State to celebrate a true elder statesman and patriotic democrat, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, on his 75th birthday,” Adeleke said.

“Prince Oyinlola is a symbol of good governance, discipline, integrity, and selfless service to the people. His administration left enduring legacies in road construction, education, health, security and rural development. Even after leaving office, he has remained a voice of reason, unity and stability in our state and nation.”

The governor highlighted Oyinlola’s role in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting peace across ethnic and religious lines, and mentoring young leaders across party lines.

“He has consistently placed the interest of Osun and Nigeria above personal ambition. That rare quality of statesmanship is what our democracy needs more of today. On behalf of the government and people of Osun, I wish Baba Oyinlola many more years of good health, wisdom, strength and divine protection.”

Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a retired Brigadier-General, former Military Administrator of Lagos State (1993–1996), and two-term elected Governor of Osun State, turned 75 on February 8, 2026.

He remains one of the most respected elder statesmen in the South-West, known for his bridge-building across political divides and advocacy for national unity.
