Federal lawmaker representing Imeko Afan Federal Constituency, Hon. Gboyega Isiaka (APC), has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, promising to run a campaign anchored on due process, internal party democracy and inclusive development.
In a widely circulated statement and video released on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the three-term representative (popularly called “GNI” by supporters) said he was stepping into the race because “Ogun State deserves fresh, focused and people-centred leadership that will consolidate gains and take the state to the next level.”
Hon. Gboyega Isiaka’s Declaration: “I have listened to the people of Ogun State from the People of Yewa to the farms in Ijebu, from the classrooms in Egba to the communities in Remo. They are asking for a leader who understands their pain, shares their hopes and is ready to work with integrity and competence.”
“I am not coming to impose myself. I will submit to the due process of our great party, the APC. I believe in internal democracy. Let the party primaries be free, fair and transparent. Whoever emerges will have my full support. But I am offering myself because I have the experience, the network and the vision to lead Ogun forward.”
“My agenda is simple: consolidate what has been done, fix what is broken and build what is missing. We will focus on jobs for our youth, agro-industrialisation, quality education and healthcare, rural roads and urban renewal, security and peaceful coexistence.”

Isiaka, who has served as Chairman key House committees including Finance and Steel Development, highlighted his track record of constituency projects, legislative advocacy for Ogun interests and consistent support for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration while maintaining independence of thought.
The declaration comes amid growing jostling within the Ogun APC ahead of 2027, with zoning (South vs Central vs West) and incumbent Governor Abiodun’s second-term status still subjects of intense debate.
Isiaka’s emergence adds another heavyweight to the potential race, joining names like Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, former Senator Gbenga Obadara, and several commissioners and party leaders who have indicated interest.
The lawmaker concluded his declaration by calling on party faithful, youth, women and traditional rulers to support a process that puts competence, character and capacity first.
