Veteran journalist and publisher of Ovation International, Dele Momodu, has publicly assured Nigerians that the family is actively working behind the scenes to amicably resolve the ongoing child custody dispute between music superstar Davido (David Adeleke) and his cousin Sophia Momodu over their daughter, Imade Adeleke.

In a statement shared on his verified social media platforms on Thursday, February 20, 2026, Momodu appealed for calm and privacy while confirming that efforts are underway to settle the matter out of court.

Dele Momodu’s Statement: “The Adeleke and Momodu families are working quietly and maturely behind the scenes to resolve this sensitive issue concerning little Imade. We are all committed to the best interest of the child and we ask the public and media to please respect her privacy and allow the adults to handle this as a family matter.”

“There is no need for sensational headlines or further escalation. Both Davido and Sophia love their daughter deeply. Let us give them space to find a peaceful and lasting solution.”

“Imade is innocent in all of this. She deserves love, protection and normalcy, not public drama. I want to thank everyone who has shown genuine concern for her well-being.”

Davido and Sophia Momodu dated briefly in 2015; their daughter Imade Adeleke was born on May 14, 2015, In 2024, Davido filed a motion at a Lagos High Court seeking unrestricted access to his daughter, claiming Sophia had placed barriers on visitation and co-parenting.

Sophia filed a counter-affidavit stating she had never denied Davido access and accused him of inconsistent involvement in Imade’s life, The matter has seen several court appearances, adjournments and public commentary, with both parties trading subtle accusations through social media and interviews.

The case remains pending before the Lagos High Court, but Momodu’s intervention suggests behind-the-scenes family mediation may be underway to avoid a prolonged and potentially acrimonious legal battle.

Dele Momodu, as Sophia’s uncle and a respected family elder, is widely seen as a credible mediator in the matter.
