Former Arsenal and Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has predicted that Manchester City will ultimately win the 2025/26 Premier League title, despite Arsenal’s impressive 4-1 victory over Spurs in the North London derby on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
The Gunners produced a dominant display at White Hart Lane, with Eberechi Eze scoring a brace, Viktor Gyökeres adding one, and a late fourth from a substitute wrapping up the rout. The result ended Arsenal’s two-match winless run and moved them five points clear at the top of the table ahead of Manchester City.
Speaking after the match in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that quickly went viral, Adebayor who won the 2008 CAF Player of the Year award and played for both North London clubs as well as Manchester City analysed the remaining fixtures and concluded that City have the easier run-in.
“I have looked at the next fixtures for both Arsenal and City. I think City will win the league,” Adebayor wrote.
The Togolese legend’s prediction has divided opinion online: Arsenal fans accused him of bias toward his former club Manchester City.

Others agreed that City’s run-in appears more favourable, especially with several home games against mid-table sides while Arsenal face tough away trips.
Arsenal’s victory was built on clinical finishing and midfield dominance, with Eze opening the scoring in the 32nd minute before Randal Kolo equalised for Spurs two minutes later. Gyökeres restored Arsenal’s lead three minutes into the second half, Eze made it 3-1 in the 61st minute, and a stoppage-time goal sealed the emphatic win.
The result keeps Mikel Arteta’s side firmly in the title race, but Adebayor believes City’s experience in winning tight races will prove decisive over the final stretch.
