Popular Nigerian content creator and influencer Samuel Banks has narrated a troubling experience on the Lekki Expressway, alleging that a group of young men have been repeatedly targeting him for extortion simply because he refused to give them money.

In a video shared on his social media platforms on Monday, March 2, 2026, Banks explained that the boys first spotted his initial car, then his second vehicle, and now his third. He claimed they have made multiple attempts to demand cash from him while he drives through the area.

According to Banks, during the most recent incident, the group threw stones at his latest car. Fortunately, the glass was not damaged, but the repeated harassment has left him frustrated and determined to take a stand.

“This is not the first time, second time, or third time,” Banks said in the video. “They saw my first car, they saw my second car, now they’re seeing my third car all because I refused to give them money. This time they even threw stones at my car. Thank God the glass didn’t break, but enough is enough. I won’t let this slide anymore.”

He further stated that he has decided not to remain silent or pay the alleged extortion demands, urging others who face similar harassment on Lagos roads to speak up and resist.

The Lekki Expressway has in recent years been associated with reports of petty extortion by some youths, often referred to as “area boys,” who demand money from motorists at traffic points or under the guise of offering assistance.

Banks’ public account has sparked reactions online, with many Lagos residents sharing similar experiences and calling for stronger security presence and enforcement along major highways.

The Lagos State Government and the Lagos State Police Command are yet to comment on the specific incident, but authorities have previously vowed to crack down on extortion and harassment on public roads.

This is a developing story.
