Ministry spokesperson Mohammed Al Ruzaiqi explained that the early announcement is intended to give companies and workers sufficient time to prepare for the festive period. He said:
“The advance notice allows organisations to adjust work schedules while ensuring continuity in critical sectors. It also guarantees that employees can enjoy their entitled holiday without uncertainty.”
Key Labour Law Provisions Al Ruzaiqi reminded employers to comply with Article 24 of the executive regulations of the Saudi Labour Law, which governs official holidays and guarantees paid leave during religious and national celebrations.

The ministry urged all employers to adhere to these guidelines to avoid violations. The announcement comes amid ongoing preparations for Eid Al-Fitr 1447 AH, which is expected to begin on Thursday, March 19, 2026 (subject to moon sighting). The four-day public holiday aligns with previous years and applies to the private sector and non-profit organisations, while government employees typically follow a separate calendar issued by the Ministry of Human Resources.
This early declaration is welcomed by businesses and families, allowing better planning for travel, family gatherings, and religious observances.
