The Oyo State Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with a violent altercation in Asalu Community, Lalupon, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State, which left one person dead and several others injured.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 16, 2026, the Command’s Public Relations Officer confirmed that the incident occurred when community security guards alerted residents to a confrontation involving a group of youths in the early hours.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the injured victims were rushed to Ojo Oluwa Hospital, Iyana-Offa, where one of them identified as Kehinde, popularly known as “Ogo Ojigbo” later died from his injuries.
The corpse has been deposited at Adeoyo State Hospital Morgue, Ring Road, Ibadan, for preservation and autopsy.

Following the report, a team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Iyana-Offa Division promptly mobilised to the scene and the hospital. Photographs were taken for documentation, and one suspect, Giwa Sodiq, was arrested in connection with the incident.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, commended the operatives for their quick response and appealed to residents to remain vigilant and report any criminal activity promptly. He also urged members of the public with credible information that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing suspects to come forward.
