President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally sworn in Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance during a brief ceremony at the State House, Abuja, on Monday, March 16, 2026.

The swearing-in was conducted ahead of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting and marks the latest addition to the President’s economic team amid ongoing reforms in fiscal policy, revenue mobilisation and economic diversification.

Oyedele, a renowned tax expert and former Fiscal Policy Partner & Africa Tax Leader at PwC, brings extensive experience in tax policy, public finance, economic advisory and international taxation to the role.

He previously served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts to streamline Nigeria’s tax system, reduce multiple taxation, improve revenue collection efficiency and promote ease of doing business.

The oath of office was administered by President Tinubu in the presence of Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and other senior government officials. Oyedele pledged to support the Renewed Hope Agenda by driving transparent, efficient and equitable fiscal policies that support inclusive growth, reduce poverty and attract investment.

A brief statement from the State House described Oyedele’s appointment as “strategic and timely,” noting his expertise would strengthen the Finance Ministry’s capacity to implement key reforms, including the harmonisation of taxes, digitalisation of revenue collection, and addressing fiscal leakages.
