The United Kingdom’s Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (Military Strategy and Operations) has paid a strategic visit to Maiduguri, Borno State, as part of efforts to strengthen defence and security cooperation between the UK and Nigeria.
The high-level delegation was received at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, where they held closed-door discussions with Nigerian military leaders on ongoing counter-terrorism operations and broader regional security challenges in the Lake Chad region.

During the engagement, the UK delegation reaffirmed Britain’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s military through enhanced training programmes, intelligence sharing, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at improving operational effectiveness against Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents.
The Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai expressed appreciation for the UK’s sustained partnership, describing the visit as a significant boost to joint efforts in restoring peace and stability to the North-East.
