Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew has emerged as one of the most controversial figures in recent Nigerian public discourse after claiming to be the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an agency the Presidency insists does not exist.
Adeyemi is currently facing an eight-count charge before the Federal High Court in Abuja for alleged forgery, impersonation, and operating a fictitious government agency.

Despite the serious allegations, he continues to insist that he is the legitimate head of the PFIPC/Presidential Economic Advisory Council, which he claims was established to attract foreign investment into Nigeria.
Adeyemi came under intense scrutiny after claiming the council had official government backing, offices, staff, bank accounts, and approvals. He also alleged in a television interview that he paid ₦600 million to secure his appointment, a claim the Presidency has strongly denied.

The Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has repeatedly stated that no such agency was ever created by the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu.
Investigators allege that Adeyemi forged official documents, including appointment letters bearing signatures of senior government officials, and operated from an office in the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja.

The controversy escalated after budget documents revealed that an entity similar to the PFIPC was allocated over ₦1.3 billion in the 2026 Appropriation Act, raising questions about how it was included despite the Presidency’s position.
Following a petition by the Chief of Staff, Adeyemi was arrested in October 2025. The Nigeria Police later filed an eight-count charge against him and two others on November 27, 2025.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 27, 2026. This is not the first time Adeyemi has faced questions over his claims. In 2016, he was reported to have emerged as President-General of the World Youth Organisation, which he claimed was affiliated with the United Nations. The UN later denied any affiliation.
Adeyemi has rejected all allegations of fraud, insisting he is not a “con artiste” and that the court will vindicate him.
“Let’s assume the agency does not exist. Would I have the temerity to be going all over the country meeting the heads of agencies and departments if they know that the agency does not exist?” he asked during a recent television appearance.

The case continues to generate public debate, with calls for a full investigation into how such an entity allegedly secured budget allocations and operated within government spaces.
The matter remains before the court.
