Dangote Refinery Hikes Petrol Price Again, Nigerians Brace For Higher Costs
Dangote Petroleum Refinery raised its PMS gantry price by 6.7% to N1,350 per litre effective September 12, 2026. This is the fourth increase in less than one month. Filling stations across Lagos, Ogun and Abuja have adjusted pump prices to between N1,360 and N1,395 per litre. Marketers say the hike will push up transport fares, food prices and production costs as crude oil stays above $100 per barrel.

CPPE Warns Subsidy Return Could Wreck Nigeria’s Economy
Dr Muda Yusuf, CEO of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise, warned that restoring petrol subsidy could cost Nigeria nearly N20 trillion yearly. He said it would worsen fiscal deficits, debt burden and foreign exchange pressures at a time when the government is struggling to stabilize the naira and inflation.

Unity Colleges Resume Today As FG Assures Parents of Safety
The Federal Ministry of Education confirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide resume academic activities today, September 14. Minister Dr Tunji Alausa said security agencies have been placed on heightened vigilance around schools. Parents were urged to rely only on official information and ensure their wards return as scheduled.

Edouard Mendy Announces International Retirement
Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, 34, announced his retirement from international football on Sunday, September 13. In a video posted online, he thanked Senegal after eight years and 59 caps with the Lions of Teranga. Mendy won AFCON with Senegal in 2021 and played at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups. He currently plays for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.

Senegal Still Fighting For 2025 AFCON Title
