Fresh questions have been raised over the ancestral roots of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun State in the 2027 election, with critics demanding concrete evidence of his claimed Pahayi-Ilaro origin.
In a detailed intervention circulating online, a commentator challenged Yayi to produce verifiable records of his background, insisting that the senator’s claimed roots in Ogun West have shifted between different towns and communities, raising doubts about his true indigene status.

The critic noted that Yayi grew up in the Iyana Ipaja area of Alimosho in Lagos and should be able to identify friends and classmates from that period who can attest to his early life.
“Yayi grew up in Iyana Ipaja area of Alimosho and should be able to tell us who his friends and classmates were. Of course, there will be people who knew him when he was growing up. The assumption is that if he truly is from Pahayi, he should be able to authoritatively point out his ancestral family house in Ilaro, because Pahayi is an outpost of Ilaro,” the statement read.
The commentator further demanded records from Yayi’s time at The Guardian newspaper, his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, and documents from his years as a politician in Lagos that would clearly state his state of origin.

He explained the historical relationship between Pahayi and Ilaro, describing Pahayi as a farmstead and satellite community of Ilaro founded by a hunter from the town.
“All Ilaro indigenes come from a particular quarter in the town. As the population grew, they went to establish satellite communities on the outskirts of the town. Pahayi is such, a farmstead of Ilaro where people from Ago Isaga and other quarters went to hunt and farm. It was founded by a hunter from Ilaro. So, where is Yayi’s family home in Ilaro ancestral quarters?”
Drawing a parallel with the settlement history of Iyana Ipaja and other communities in Alimosho, the critic argued that satellite communities cannot claim to have migrated from Lagos to found their parent towns in Ogun State.

“Just as Iyana Ipaja people cannot claim to have migrated from Lagos to settle in Ipaja in Ogun state, so also it is that Pahayi people cannot claim to have migrated to found Ago Ishaga in Ilaro. His ‘fixers’ failed that history test.”
The core argument, according to the commentary, is that Yayi’s claimed ancestral roots in Ogun West have shifted between different towns, raising persistent doubts about whether he is truly an indigene of Pahayi-Ilaro.
The latest challenge adds to earlier criticisms from figures such as Wale Adedayo, Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello, Ladi Adebutu and others who have questioned Yayi’s origin and demanded documentary proof.

Yayi’s camp has previously responded with family videos, traditional endorsements and denials of the allegations. The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, has publicly identified Adeola as a son of Yewa and conferred the title Aremo of Yewaland on him.
As the debate intensifies, critics continue to insist that a candidate seeking the highest office in Ogun State must provide clear, consistent and verifiable evidence of his ancestral home, family house in Ilaro’s traditional quarters, and official records stating his state of origin.
The controversy is expected to remain a major talking point in Ogun politics as the 2027 governorship race gathers momentum.
