Prominent security consultant and Group Chairman of Klass Group, Dr. Sunnie Aleghe has called for the deployment of cutting-edge technology, such as drones, GIS mapping, cyber monitoring and constant training to improve the overall security architecture of the country.

The security expert said this is a reflection of a growing recognition of the need to leverage modern techniques to combat the multilevel security challenges facing the nation.

In an interview with journalists in Klass Group corporate office in Magodo, Lagos, on Friday, Aleghe pointed out that due to the ascendancy and sophistication of criminal enterprises, there was the corresponding imperative to take advantage relevant technologies and deploy matching and above level strategies to contain emergent security scenarios.

Dr. Aleghe emphasized that stakeholders should be pushing for the adoption of advanced technologies like drones, cyber modules and GIS mapping to enhance the effectiveness of protection efforts.

He said, “drones can be instrumental in monitoring large and remote areas, providing real-time data on unusual movements and activities, while GIS mapping can aid in spatial analysis of digital information that has been gathered”, noting that this would help the authorities to understand and respond to both demographic and geographical patterns of security breaches.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of establishing an effective network for security agencies and also, providing comprehensive training for personnel, highlighting that a well-connected network can facilitate the sharing of information and coordination among different agencies involved in various campaigns, leading to a more cohesive and efficient response to illegal activities.

Aleghe commended the various tactical and strategic initiatives spearheaded by the office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the military, dedicated agencies like DSS, NIA and the Police, attributing their successes to deployment of advanced technologies.

He however, said, “I can tell you for free that there are disturbing data from the various security agencies which highlights the sophistication of criminal individuals and organizations but the current leadership of the nation’s security acknowledges these challenges and are employing cutting-edge technologies to confront the threats posed by the criminal elements.”

Answering a reporter’s question, Dr. Sunnie Aleghe said, “security is a global challenge and in order to address it effectively, we must equip ourselves with the most advanced tools and strategic approaches available.”

The expert, however, pointed out that success in combating security challenges does not solely rely on technology, but hinges on multi-level networks that supports regional and international collaboration, including the sharing of intelligence.

Dr. Aleghe stated that while updated training programs can play a crucial role in empowering those on the front lines, it is important provide them with technical assistance and resources to strengthen the capacity of protection efforts and mitigate the impact of criminal activities on the country’s diverse ecosystems.
