Nigerian born female musical star Tems, has made history by winning the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards for her hit song “Love Me Jeje” This is her second Grammy win, cementing her status as one of Africa’s most celebrated global music icons.

Temilade Openiyi, popularly Tems was born June 11, 1995 and showed exceptional singing talent growing up. She became a singer, songwriter, and record producer, rising to prominence after she featured on Wizkid’s 2020 single “Essence”, which peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart following the release of a remix version with Justin Bieber.
Tems’ road to success was steeped with stiff competition from fellow Nigerian artistes, including Burna Boy, Asake, and Wizkid, but her unique blend of Afrobeats and soulful melodies secured her win.
In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Tems dedicated the award to her mother, whose birthday coincided with the date of the ceremony.

She expressed gratitude to God, her team, and her mother, who she credited with doing a lot for her and her brother. This win marks another milestone in Tems’ burgeoning career.
