DDNewsonline reports as it partners with PBAN to reconnect with the Brazilian Consulate in Lagos to revive bilateral collaboration, promote knowledge exchange, and expand trade opportunities in the beauty and digital economy sectors between Nigeria and Brazil.

In a renewed effort to strengthen international cooperation within the professional beauty sector, the Professional Beauty Connect Association of Ipaja, Lagos (PBAN) has re-engaged the Brazilian Consulate General in Lagos, marking a strategic revival of bilateral relations following a brief disengagement.

The high-level engagement, covered exclusively by DDNewsonline, reflects a shared commitment by both parties to reactivate earlier agreements aimed at advancing professional development, trade, innovation, and deeper collaboration across the beauty and digital economy sectors of Nigeria and Brazil.

The PBAN delegation was led by Pastor Kehinde Oduntan Ogundimu, Founder and President General of the association. Other members of the delegation included Mrs. Temitope Bolayemi Rotimi-Omitogun, Secretary General; Mr. Olaniyi Dopamu, Executive Director, Media, Marketing & IT and Publisher of DDNews Magazine; Mr. Adeyemi Ogungbayi, Director, Research & Investment and News Editor, DDNews Magazine; and Mr. Kolawole Isioye, Administrative Officer.

Representing the Brazilian Consulate were Ambassador Manuel Innocencio de Lacerda Santos Jr., Consul General; Mr. Celso de Arruda França, Deputy Consul General; as well as Mr. Igor Rodeghiero Ferreira and Ms. Hyelni Data Tarfa of the Trade Promotion Sector.

Speaking with DDNewsonline, Deputy Consul General Mr. Celso de Arruda França expressed confidence in resolving issues that had previously delayed professional exchange programs and proposed seminars between both countries. He reaffirmed the Consulate’s readiness to align PBAN’s initiatives with emerging opportunities within Brazil’s beauty, creative, and innovation-driven economy, while also strengthening cooperation with Nigeria’s growing digital ecosystem.

The meeting commenced with formal introductions by Pastor Ogundimu, who restated PBAN’s vision of building sustainable global partnerships that enhance capacity development, professional exposure, and economic growth for beauty practitioners. Mrs. Rotimi-Omitogun subsequently reflected on previous engagements in Brazil, highlighting their positive outcomes and renewing interest from Ambassador Santos Jr. in future collaborative initiatives.

Emphasising the global relevance of the partnership, Mrs. Rotimi-Omitogun underscored Brazil’s international leadership in beauty innovation and the mutual benefits of structured professional exchange. She noted that initiatives such as expert visits, joint training programmes, and bilateral events could unlock significant value for professionals, investors, and institutions in both countries.

Providing a digital economy perspective, Mr. Olaniyi Dopamu, who also serves as CEO of D-Degree Digital Hub, highlighted the importance of technology-driven empowerment in national development. Drawing from his experiences in Brazil, he commended inclusive government policies that support informal and creative professions as effective tools for social stability and economic inclusion. He further advocated for stronger bilateral financial frameworks to address currency challenges and enhance cross-border economic cooperation.

Both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to rebuilding trust and advancing the partnership, with assurances that all previous understandings would be reviewed and honoured. It was further agreed that future initiatives would be coordinated through relevant Brazilian ministries to ensure effective implementation, institutional alignment, and long-term sustainability.

The engagement concluded on a cordial note with the exchange of goodwill, expressions of appreciation, and the presentation of a commemorative gift to the Brazilian Consulate team.

As Nigeria and Brazil continue to explore strategic sectoral collaborations, this renewed engagement positions both the beauty industry and the digital economy as viable platforms for sustained knowledge exchange, expanded trade opportunities, and mutually beneficial international partnerships.
