The Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has built, furnished and gifted two bungalows to two of his senior drivers, Ayo Momodu and Jonathan Orukpe,

An elated Shaibu shared photos of the handover ceremony of the buildings on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, showing the beautiful houses located at Ute, Umagbae South, Uhunmwonde LGA in Edo State,

This generous gesture by the deputy governor is a heartening news, as the act of providing housing for his dedicated and loyal drivers reflects a commendable appreciation for their long years of service.

Importantly, the fact that Shaibu considers it his responsibility to acknowledge and reward the hard work and loyalty of his staff is a positive example of leadership.

By commissioning and furnishing the 3-bedroom and 4-bedroom bungalows for his drivers, he has not only provided them with comfortable homes but also emphasizes the importance of recognizing and valuing the contributions of those who have been with him since 2007.

The deputy governor said, “this is part of my responsibilities to appreciate my workers. I have started building houses for my drivers and I have just commissioned two, for Ayo Momodu and Jonathan Orukpe.”

“This is just my way of appreciating them for their dedication and loyalty since 2007 when they have been with me. I am happy that they are now landlords”, said Shaibu.

The drivers, Ayo Momodu and Jonathan Orukpe, expressed their gratitude, describing the Deputy Governor’s gesture as a wonderful show of love and a valuable gift to humanity.

This kind of appreciation by the grateful drivers go beyond the professional relationship, but also, fostering a sense of community and care among colleagues.

It’s also noteworthy that the Deputy Governor has extended this generosity across different local government areas, as Jonathan Orukpe is from Ewohimi in Esan, while Ayo Momodu hails from Etsako West Local Government Area. This demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity and recognition of talent and dedication regardless of geographical origins.

This heartwarming story of the deputy governor showcases a positive example of leadership and appreciation for dedicated workers, setting a standard for recognizing and rewarding loyalty in the workplace.

No doubt, this kind of charitable donations are identifiable gestures which are expressive of governance with a human face. This is hope for the hopeless, indeed.
