The Edo State Government, through the Edo State Development and Property Corporation (ESDPC), is set to develop a 521-unit housing estate in Ekpoma, in partnership with Maximpact Global Ventures Limited.

The estate which will be known as Esan Garden City Estate is an initiative that aligns with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s objective to boost the state’s real estate sector by implementing affordable housing schemes across various cities.

John Zedomi, the Managing Director of ESDPC, confirmed that the development would begin soon and highlighted that this project marks the corporation’s first venture outside the Edo South Senatorial District. This expansion signifies a strategic move to extend affordable housing initiatives to more regions within the state, promoting balanced development and improving living standards.

According to him, “As a corporation, this is the first major project we are taking outside of Edo South Senatorial District. We expect the firm to deliver 100 units in the first phase by the end of 2024. We are excited that this project will open up possibilities, attract investments and infrastructure development as well as create jobs in the local community.”

Dr. Eromonsele Peter, Managing Director of Maximpact Global Ventures Limited, assured that the 521-unit housing project in Ekpoma, Esan Garden City Estate, will be delivered on schedule. He expressed his happiness in contributing to the state’s development. The project aims to provide affordable housing options to civil servants and low-income earners in the Edo Central Senatorial District.

This initiative follows the successful uptake of the Emotan Gardens Estate in Benin City and is part of broader efforts to stimulate the development of the state’s real estate sector. These projects reflect the ongoing growth driven by the nuanced reforms implemented by Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration, aiming to enhance the quality of life and promote economic progress in Edo State.
