Health workers of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso are protesting sudden salary deductions by the hospital management without their knowledge. The employees from various unions were expecting higher salaries this year due to the state government’ implementation of the new minimum wage for all civil servants, instead they got deductions shock.

The workers claim that on receiving their January salary noticed the deduction of a certain amount from their salaries, with some receiving lower salaries than they did in December.
Additionally, the workers were upset about the delay in paying the overdue benefits owed to them from 2018 to 2023 but received only four months promotional benefits.
Olabaniyi David, chairman of the Joint Health Sector Union and assembly of Healthcare professionals, revealed that the taxes have increased across board without a corresponding salary adjustment.
The hospital management has responded to the crisis, saying it is helpless because the government reduced the funding given to the hospital.
The protest led to the shutdown of the hospital gates and administrative offices, with workers demanding an explanation from the management. The management has since held a meeting with the different unions to discuss a resolution to the issue.
