The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially unveiled a 110-member main organising committee to oversee preparations for its 2025 elective national convention, scheduled for Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th November 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The unveiling follows the National Executive Committee’s earlier approval of the convention date and venue, a decision seen as part of efforts to strengthen the PDP’s political base in the South-West ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The key members of the 2025 PDP National Convention Organising Committee (Main Committee) include Hon. Ahmadu Umaru (Chairman), Osun State Senator Ademola Jackson Adeleke – (Deputy Chairman), Kabir Tanimi Turari, SAN (Deputy Chairman 2), Barrister Peter Mbah (Secretary) and Senator Adolphus Wadana (BOT Chairman)
The Party also inaugurated a 44-member zoning committee, chaired by Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, with Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal serving as Vice-Chairman and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang as Secretary.
The committee has been mandated to recommend an equitable zoning formula for the party’s national leadership positions, with the goal of fostering fairness, loyalty, and unity among members.
Inaugurating the committee, the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, described it as the “engine room” that will lay the political foundation for the party’s next leadership structure.

Party insiders reveal that this convention will be a critical turning point as the PDP positions itself for the 2027 general elections, with intense internal contests for leadership roles already shaping the run-up to the convention.
