President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, arrived in the United Kingdom on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, for a historic two-day State Visit. The first full state visit by a Nigerian head of state to the UK in 57 years.
The visit commenced with a grand ceremonial welcome at the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle, hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The programme featured: A formal guard of honour inspectio, National anthems of Nigeria and the United Kingdom, A carriage procession through Windsor, Private audience with Their Majesties and High-level bilateral engagements.

Royal Greeting at Fairmont Hotel Earlier in the day, Prince William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, personally welcomed President Tinubu and the First Lady at the Fairmont Hotel in Windsor. The royal couple greeted the Nigerian delegation warmly, posing for photographs and exchanging pleasantries ahead of the main ceremonial events.
Carriage Procession to Windsor Castle President Tinubu travelled in the Australian State Coach alongside King Charles III, while First Lady Oluremi Tinubu travelled in the Scottish State Coach with Queen Camilla. The procession, accompanied by members of the Household Cavalry (Blues and Royals and Life Guards), drew crowds along Datchet Road in Windsor.
