Reps Adjourns Plenary as Bill to Amend Powers of Legislative Houses Passes Second Reading

The House of Representatives has adjourned the plenary until Tuesday, 24th January 2023. In another development, a Bill for An Act to Amend the Legislative Houses, Powers and Privileges Act, 2017, and for Related Matters, HB.2149 scaled through second reading on Thursday during plenary.

The Bill is sponsored by the Speaker House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mohammed Mongono.

Also, a Bill for an Act to Establish Rights for Victims of Crime to Provide for the Rights, Welfare, and Compensation of Victims of Crime and provide for strengthening of criminal Justice System and Related Matters, HB 1861 equally passed second reading and is sponsored by Hon. Henry Archibong.

Lawmakers during the debate unanimously agreed that the two Bills when passed and accented to by President Muhammadu Buhari will help Nigeria and her citizens to appreciate more fully the role of the legislature.
