Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has appointed Dr. Dagogo S.A. Wokoma as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Barrister Sunny Ewule as Chief of Staff (CoS), with immediate effect.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

The statement read: “Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has appointed Dr Dagogo S.A. Wokoma as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Barrister Sunny Ewule as the Chief of Staff (COS). Both appointments are with immediate effect.
“The new appointees will be sworn in at 2:00 pm today, Thursday February 26, 2026. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Exco Chamber, Government House, Port Harcourt.”

The new appointments follow the recent sacking of the former Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, and the former SSG, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, amid the lingering political crisis in the state and the aftermath of the Abuja “peace deal” brokered between Governor Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Barrister Sunny Ewule A legal practitioner and former aide in previous administrations, recognised for his loyalty to the governor and expertise in governance support.
The appointments are widely seen as part of Governor Fubara’s effort to consolidate his administration after months of internal power struggles, defections and reconciliation attempts within the Rivers APC and PDP structures.
