The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the renaming of seven ministries to align with international best practices and enhance public service operations.
The Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, announced this decision in a statement on Tuesday at the Government House in Benin City.

The ministries have been renamed as follows:
Ministry of Roads and Bridges is now MINISTRY OF WORKS.
Ministry of Local Government, Community and Chieftaincy Affairs is now MINISTRY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND CHIEFTAINCY AFFAIRS.
Ministry of Communication and Orientation is now MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS.
Ministry of Mining and Energy is now MINISTRY OF MINING.
Ministry of Water Resources is now MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES AND ENERGY.
Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues is now MINISTRY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT.
Ministry of Digital Economy, Science and Technology is now MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.
Governor Monday Okpebholo approved these changes to bring the ministries in line with modern governance standards and improve efficiency of public service operations in the state, in the context of international best practices.
