As many Nigerians struggle to collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs), for the 2023 general elections, the lawmaker representing Takai/Sumaila federal Constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Shamsudeen Dambazau has called for the deployment of technology by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for seamless production, distribution and collection of PVCs across the country.
The lawmaker stated this while addressing journalists in Abuja.
He explained that the use of technology in the collection and distribution of PVCs will enable Nigerians of voting age to collect their PVCs no matter where they registered or reside.
He also noted that with citizens’ database at the disposal of various government agencies, in the country, it is possible for Nigerians to collect their PVCs from any location in Nigeria.
While commending his colleagues for the work done on the 2022 amended Electoral Act, he added that it has enhanced the electoral system and would assist in the conduct of elections.
He informed that the Federal Government has put mechanisms in place to dislodge terrorists across the country and tackle other security threats while calling on outright sack of those that cannot deliver on their mandates.
He also challenged those saddled with the responsibility of securing the country to be up and doing for the overall benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians.
The lawmaker also advised security agencies to provide the needed security for a free, fair and credible polls next month.
