As crisis continue to rock the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Taraba House of Representatives caucus in the National Assembly has vowed to contest the unconstitutional removal of the chairman, Ibrahim El-Sudi.
Speaking during a press conference witnessed by a delegation of the caucus and other prominent members of the Taraba State Working Council, SEC to National Assembly at a press Committee in Abuja, Hon. Shidi Danjuma described the removal of the party State Chairman as null and void.
Hon. Danjuma who is also the APC Senatorial Candidate for Taraba Central Senatorial District also stressed the conditions spelt out in his party’s Constitution before a chairman could be removed, adding that the so called removal of the chairman in the state is self-serving.
He alleged that it’s was perpetrated by some die hard section of the State Working Committee that was illegally constituted.
The Caucus also queried the procedure through which the state chairman of the party was impeached stressing that it was contrary to relevant sections of his party’s law book.
“Having not invoked and exhausted paragraphs A-C of Article 21 of the APC Constitution, can those claimed to have removed Hon. El-Sudi by invoking Section 21, paragraph D (v) of the APC Constitution be said to have validly exercised such powers assuming but not conceding they were properly constituted. The answer to this question is certainly in the negative.”
The leader of the Caucus further accused the PDP government in his state of being the mastermind of all the ordeals and crisis his party is going through at the state.
He further stated: “This charade can at best be described as a failed civilian coup sponsored by enemies of the party. Such travesty of law must not be allowed to fester.
We do not see any justification in fact and none at least backed by law for the purported removal from office of our State Chairman, especially at this very critical stage of preparation for elections,”
The caucus equally emphasized that the sack of his party chairman is a calculated attempt to sabotage his party’s efforts at winning the 2023 general elections in the State maintaining that PDP cannot stand against them during the upcoming elections.
The lawmaker disclosed that his party which is currently the ruling party in the country has two senators and two former deputy governor’s in addition to three former speakers of the state House of Assembly.
They also pointed out that two out of three senators and other members of the House of Representatives are in APC, making them majority at the National Assembly.
He disclosed that his party State Executives have confidence in the El-Sudi leadership which made them pledged their support and commitment to the party.
They also pledged their unalloyed loyalty to their Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima before during and after the forth coming general elections.
In his contributions, a member of the caucus representing Jalingo/Yorro/Zing federal constituency, Hon. Maigari Kasimu lamented that some executive members of his party are the brain behind their ordeal.
He equally emphasized the party’s readiness to win the forth coming election in the state and at the national level alleging that the incumbent leaders in his state has failed to provide democratic dividends to the electorate.
Hon. Danjuma used the opportunity to call on the national leadership of his party, APC, to intervene and secure the immediate release of his Campaign Director-General, Samaila Yakubu and other members of the party from detention.
