Former All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the recent Anambra State election, Chief George Moghalu, has cautioned opposition parties that removing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling APC from power in the 2027 general elections will be a formidable challenge.
Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Moghalu acknowledged the APC’s entrenched machinery, incumbency advantages, and Tinubu’s political savvy as key factors that make the task “not an easy one.”
“President Tinubu is a master strategist with vast experience. The APC controls federal resources and has structures across the country. Any opposition hoping to dislodge them must be extraordinarily united, disciplined, and strategic,” Moghalu said.

The former Director-General of the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), who defected from the APC ahead of the Anambra governorship poll, urged opposition forces to avoid fragmentation and focus on presenting a credible alternative.
His warning comes amid ongoing realignments in the opposition landscape, including high-profile defections to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and efforts to form broader coalitions.
Moghalu, who finished third in the Anambra election, remains a prominent voice in South-East politics and national discourse.
