Good afternoon, sir. Thank you for joining us today?
Hon. Tunji Bankole (TJ): Good afternoon. Thank you for having me.
Congratulations on your decision to run for the House of Representatives seat for Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency in 2027. What inspired you to take this bold step?
Hon. Tunji Bankole (TJ): Thank you. My decision is driven by a genuine desire to serve my people and contribute meaningfully to the development of our constituency. Ado-Odo/Ota is one of the highest contributors to Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in Ogun State, thanks to its robust industrial base and vibrant commercial activities. However, despite this economic strength, many communities still grapple with poor road networks, inadequate healthcare facilities, insufficient educational infrastructure, and limited government presence in critical sectors. Our roads are in deplorable condition, affecting businesses and daily life. Access to quality healthcare remains a challenge, and our schools urgently need better infrastructure and learning resources. These glaring gaps between our potential and current reality inspired me to step forward and be part of the solution.

That’s commendable. What are your top priorities if elected?
Hon. Tunji Bankole (TJ): My top priorities will focus on healthcare, education, infrastructure, and economic empowerment. I will advocate strongly for improved primary healthcare systems and push for federal interventions that guarantee accessible and affordable medical services. In education, I will support initiatives that upgrade learning environments, enhance teacher development, and provide access to digital education tools. On infrastructure, I will work to attract federal projects for road rehabilitation, advocate for better power supply, and support industrial growth. Importantly, I will sponsor people-oriented bills that benefit the entire constituency rather than sectional or self-serving interests. Governance must be inclusive and impactful.
How do you plan to address unemployment in your constituency?
Hon. Tunji Bankole (TJ): Unemployment, especially among our youth, is a critical issue. Many graduates are forced into informal jobs due to limited opportunities, even as industries in our area fail to fully integrate local talent.
To tackle this, I will:
Partner with industries in Ota and its environs to promote local content and employment policies
Support entrepreneurship through grants, mentorship programmes, and improved access to funding
Promote vocational and technical training aligned with current market needs
Facilitate the establishment of skill acquisition centres that prepare our young people for both local and global opportunities
We must bridge the gap between education and employment.

What sets you apart from other aspirants?
Hon. Tunji Bankole (TJ): What sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to service, integrity, and accountability. I am deeply connected to the grassroots and understand the daily challenges our people face. I am not in politics for personal gain but for a clear vision to deliver measurable results. My track record in community engagement and constant accessibility to the people will define my style of leadership.
What is your reaction to the crisis currently affecting your party, the PDP?
Hon. Tunji Bankole (TJ): The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains a strong and united platform. While internal leadership disagreements may occur as is common in democratic systems these are part of political growth. I am confident that the party leadership will resolve these issues amicably. When properly managed, internal discourse strengthens rather than weakens democracy.

Hon. Tunji Bankole (TJ): My background in business and construction gives me a practical understanding of economic development and sustainability. If elected, I will:
Promote policies that support small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs)
Advocate for improved infrastructure to attract more investors
Facilitate public-private partnerships (PPPs)
Ensure transparency and efficiency in constituency projects
We must move from potential to real performance.

What is your assessment of past representatives of the constituency?
Hon. Tunji Bankole (TJ): Leadership should focus on impact rather than blame. However, it is evident that the level of development in our constituency does not match the resources and opportunities available to us. My focus is not to criticise individuals but to offer a new direction one that prioritises accountability, visible development, and people-centred governance.
Lastly, what message do you have for the people of Ado-Odo/Ota?
Hon. Tunji Bankole (TJ): To the good people of Ado-Odo/Ota, I assure you of my unwavering commitment to serve with humility, transparency, and total dedication. Together, we can build a constituency that reflects our true potential where development is visible, opportunities are accessible, and every voice matters. I humbly ask for your support and trust as we embark on this journey of progress and transformation.
