Int'l Women's Day: Prominent Lawyer Iwezor Hails Nigerian Women's Resilience

A prominent lawyer of the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF) based in Isiokpo, Rivers State, Barrister (Dr.) Promise Wobo Iwezor, JP; has hailed Nigerian women for their resilience and courage amidst the current challenges of daily living.

The lawyer, in a statement to mark International Women’s Day (IWD), noted that the Nigerian womenfolk have been the backbone of our nation’s development and have continuously displayed a rare courage in spite of various difficulties they face.

The 2024 International Women’s Day (IWD) marked by the United Nations (UN) and other development organizations across the globe has the theme, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.’

Barrister Iwezor who celebrated women for their impact and unique role in the development of the society, also, called on stakeholders to increase investment in women and strengthen global action to bridge the gender interconnect in order to achieve the articles of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nation.

According to him, “I join the rest of the world in celebrating our women, without whose important role our world will be bland.”

Furthermore, he expressed that “we will advance faster if more attention is given to support and boost their contributions in building the family unit which is the foundation for better societies.”

Dr. Iwezor, a highly sought-after lawyer started his professional life after he graduated from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (now Rivers State University), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt where he obtained Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) Degree and subsequently to Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus and was called to the Nigerian Bar in June 2005.

He further enrolled in the same Rivers State University for a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) and a Master of Laws (LL.M) Degree in Petroleum and Environmental Law, and finally a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Petroleum and Environmental Law.

As a member of Nigerian Bar Association and several other groups including some prestigious Lawyers forums, Dr. Promise Wobo Iwezor, JP is a highly numerate mind and consummate Bar man who has served the Bar in the past and has left an open door ready for service whenever and wherever duty calls.

Barrister Promise Wobo Iwezor, , Ph.D, MCArb, Q.Med, ChMC, who is a Justice of Peace of Rivers State, is also a Notary Public of Federal Republic of Nigeria, a member, Chartered Institute of Arbitration of Nigeria, a Qualified Mediator and a Chartered Management Consultant. He is also a member of Port Harcourt Host Community Development Trust and Chairman Logistic Base Host Community Development Trust.
